Not every comment will bring that kind of results but it does happen once in a while.

I don’t comment on a blog because of it being dofollow or no follow but because it speaks to me. Having said that of course it is better to get a higher quality link from a dofollow blog but for getting traffic it doesn’t matter.

The depth of visits is more important to me than the number of visitors as well.

But it’s so true, though. People seem to make all sort of fuss about “NoFollow” vs. “DoFollow” but the reality is that a great comment on the right blog, on the right post, will bring in viewers regardless of the code tags.

And I’d take 100 people who spend 15 minutes meandering around my site anyday over 1,000 who see it pop up in the SERPs for some random keyword and then leave in .5 seconds anyday!

Absolutely do that. If you visit a blog and read a post that you like it makes a lot of sense to leave a comment.

It will benefit both you and the blog that you comment on as long as it’s the kind of comment that I’m talking about in the post which is a comment of value and not just a lip service one or two liner.

I’m glad that you find my content to be excellent. I work hard to have it be that way and hopefully it can be even better with time and as I learn more.

As for getting people to comment on your blog I’ve covered a good part of it in my post.

It comes to giving first. Make a lot of comments on other peoples blogs. Make them contributory to the topic and of value.
Most people consider one liner comments of the type “Great post, I agree with everything you say” spam.

If you have already established friendship with the blog owner you may get away with a comment like that on occasion but a comment like that still has no value unless it was preceded by a more meaningful comment by you on the same post and is the last piece by which you are concluding the discussion.

Try to comment on blogs with similar subject to yours at least 60% of the time. It’s OK and even beneficial to comment on blogs that cover topics unrelated to yours as long as what you comment on interests you and you have something to contribute.

When you write your blog posts try to choose topics of interest to as wide an audience in your niche as possible.
And make your posts open to suggestions and comments. A very tight lecturing style of writing will likely discourage people from commenting.

You can and should ask people to comment within your posts, usually towards the end. It’s helpful to pose questions and invite answers in your posts.

I think it’s very important to keep commenting on the blogs that you like without getting discouraged when you don’t receive a comment in return after placing one or even 10 comments there.

I keep commenting on blogs that I like regardless of whether I get a comment or not from them.

Not everybody will comment back but if you like the blogs, their readers will eventually become curious about you (if you make valuable and interesting comments) and will visit your blog. Some will then leave a comment there.

I had a look at your travel site and it looks pretty good. More images would make it even better. I like the map.

I’m surprised that I can actually understand some sentences. Your German is very readable compared to some texts that I’ve seen with very long words (some nearly as long as half a page width) and the ab preposition at the end.

As for Hubpages I’ll have a look at them again at a later date. It’s good to know that they aren’t slamming everybody as I was led to believe by the other marketer. (He’s a good guy and must have had a bad experience with them. It goes a while back though, so it looks like they have improved.)

What do you have on Squidoo?

I put up a quick lens several months ago and haven’t done anything else there. I know the lenses need to be well optimized and have a good content to show up anywhere.

For now I want to concentrate more on building websites and when I have a few of them up I’ll support them with a few lenses and Hubpages.
