Great post detailing the need for and reasons behind mailing lists. I too am slowly building mine under Alex’s guidance and its refreshing to see people opting in and staying on the list (for the time being at least!). Having been, and still on, numerous lists, its amazing how many lazy marketers out there just send the same old stuff time and again.

I like the way you are keeping your focus on list building. I also think this is the most important component of any online business and should always remain a priority. Although I am currently creating two products, i always keep my focus on list building and do something that will help to build my list every day. Also, the two products that i am making are to do with list building, as i really feel everyone with an online business should work hard towards building and maintaining a big and responsive list.

You have described what Alex has taught us about list building very well. I am at the same point as you with this course and have come to realise that reading other ebooks or watching video courses doesn’t come close to the way Alex is coaching us. I am on quite a few email lists from other marketers now and it is interesting to see what they do. The pattern is the same and it does work.
Now we just have to follow through and watch the list build, slowly but surely.

Great post about list building. I was interested in your comment that you actually emailed someone whose list you were on to ask why they were not posting.
That is different!
For myself when I sign up to a list I do not expect to be bombarded once or twice a day from the list owner. I delete from that list, so it is a fine line that has to be drawn between too much and not enough.
All part of the learning curve, I guess.
